On August 16, 2026, Shigeru Kitamura, CEO of Kitamura Economic Security Inc., contributed an article to the Yomiuri Shimbun’s “Chikyu wo Yomu (Reading the Globe)” column.

In the article, “Sustainability: Security as a Precondition,” he discusses the sustainability of a society lacking security, against the backdrop of the optimistic view—rooted in the expansion of free trade and market economies since the end of the Cold War—that international society would achieve stability, as well as the deepening debate over climate change and decarbonization.
